The bedspread in Morris’ bedroom at Kelmscott Manor has inspired this elegant embroidery. The original was embroidered by Jane Morris and friends. The style and technique show her increasing expertise at this craft form; the design being far more sophisticated than Jane’s Daisy. In keeping with the original design, it features delicate motifs of flowers and fruit within a scrolling trellis embroidered on linen. This background pattern derived from the Trellis wallpaper design of 1862.
