The Larsen 2011 Collection tells a series of diverse yet complementary stories, the first taking inspiration from elegant design influences of the 1920s, the second determinedly more metropolitan, owing its originals to the geometric and architectural style of Mallet Stevens; and the third featuring natural, refined and tactile materials in the plains and sheers, forming a timeless link between key design elements.
“Secret”, the haute couture collection, pays homage to Paul Pioret, the famous French fashion designer and evokes the Art Deco age. Patterns inspired by ornamental stylised plants and foliage decorate the soft linen backgrounds, the contract between matt and metallic finishes is suggestive of bursts of light, the pale backgrounds of dusk and natural tones contribute to a harmonious look.
Larsen’s “Stencil” collection draws its inspiration from a resolutely metropolitan culture. The geometry of vertical or horizontal lines, the symmetry of patterns and structured graphic design of words introduce a gentle minimalism to the fabrics, circles, checks and ribbons are freely interpreted on linen backgrounds.
Supreme softness forms the centre-piece of the plain woven collections with “Mood”, “Wharton” and “Atmosphere” creating a distinct air of luxury across a wide variety of colours. The “Vintage” collection is composed of delicate semi – opaque sheers, structured from plains and faux finishes, featuring the inter weaving of fine threads. Sophisticated, soft shades successfully balance the whole series.
Textural effects of the upmost variety are hallmarks of “Poem”, the latest Larsen wallpaper collection, simplicity is the focus in a sequence of compelling designs that reflect the quality of the linen, while stylish geometrics and botanicals presented in mineral shades give the collection an infinitely appealing appearance.
